Tips for little artists

  • Tip: Press lightly with the pencil first. Trace the lines you like with the marker, then erase the rest.

  • Tip: Draw each wing with a curved top edge and two scallops along the bottom. Add two lines from the top corner to the points.

  • Tip: Add two pink circles under the eyes as cheeks. They make the dragon look friendly.

Make it yours

  • Fire dragon

Color the dragon red and orange and draw a small puff of flames coming out of the mouth.

  • Dragon with an egg

Draw a big spotted egg between the feet, with a crack across the middle.

  • Flying dragon

Stretch the wings out wide and draw a few curved wind lines behind the tail.

Common mistakes and easy fixes

  • The wings cover the face

Tuck the top of each wing behind the snout and shoulders. Let the tips reach out to the sides, away from the face.

  • The belly stripes run up and down

Draw each stripe across the belly from side to side, curving a little like a smile.

  • The tail floats in the air

Start the tail behind one foot. Then curve it up and draw the pointed tip last.
